    These foolish things

    A cigarette that bears a lipstick's traces
An airline ticket to romantic places
And still my heart has wings
These foolish things remind me of you

A tinkling piano in the next apartment
Those stumbling words that told you what my heart meant
    A fairground's painted swings
These foolish things remind me of you

You came, you saw, you conquered me
When you did that to me
I knew somehow this had to be

The winds of march that make my heart a dancer
A telephone that rings but who's to answer?
Oh, how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things remind me of you

The smile of turner and the scent of roses
The waiters whistling as the last bar closes
    The song that crosby sings
These foolish things remind me of you

Baru saya sadari, gaya bernyanyi Etta James memiliki beberapa kemiripan dengan Adele. Baik dari teknik growling, raspy tone dan dark lows, etc. Setelah saya telusuri lebih dalam, memang ms. James ini major influence-nya Adele, bahkan Fool That I Am pernah di cover Adele.

Untuk lagu ini sendiri, saya ga bisa bicara banyak, karena saking meresapnya jadi kehilangan kata2 hahaha apasih.

    my fav lines
"When you did that to me
I knew somehow this had to be"

terus baper, terus yaaaa gitu deh, mboh ah
  • Aretha Franklin - (You Make Me Feel) A Natural Woman [1968]

Looking out on the morning rain
I used to feel so uninspired
And when I knew I had to face another day
Lord, it made me feel so tired

Before the day I met you, life was so unkind
But you're the key to my peace of mind

When my soul was in the lost and found
You came along, to claim it
I didn't know just what was wrong with me
'Til your kiss helped me name it

Now I'm no longer doubtful of what I'm living for
And if I make you happy I don't need to do more

Oh, baby, what you done to me?
You make me feel so good inside
And I just wanna be close to you
You make me feel so alive

    You make me feel
    You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman

  • Some songs aren't always just songs. They trigger memories and desires and hopes and dreams. Abercrombie's works always make me feel blessed, that I actually able to listen them and to enjoy the magic.

    John Abercrombie - Timeless

Oh, geeze, just go listen. The most brilliant foot-tappers, finger-snappers and hand-clappers in history.

    Dave Brubeck - Unsquare Dance

Don't forget about the vocal, @wing.
  • @silverliningggg For me, vocal is just one of many factors that define 'essentials'. Or I must say, a small one.

Abercrombie's or Brubeck's are still perfect even without the vocal. That's why I recommend that everyone must listen to these songs sometime in their lifetime, no matter how old they are. They are wonderful. Pure and Timeless.

    Yeah, I understand, @wing. Haha

And I realized how I'd forgotten how great and fun it is to listen to music on a room-filling system rather than headphones. Doooh, I need to do it more often.
